Fall poem
Sooo here's a fall poem to get us in the mood! P.s. there is a reference to corn fritters; you can scroll down and check out my recipe!
Autumn, Queen of the Year
by Winifred Sackville Stoner Jr.
When the pumpkins are so yellow
and the vines with grapes abound.
When the melons are so mellow
and the nuts fall to the ground;
When the persimmons loose their bitters,
and the apples are so red;
When we love to eat corn fritters
When vacation days are over
and the children go to school,
the no longer play in clover;
But learn much "arithmos-rule"
When weird Halloween's most naughty elves
When gnomes and sprites appear
When fat Thanksgivings fills the shelves-
'tis Autumn , Queen of Year.
