"Hey, I'm going to Matt's(my brother)"
"Commin' home?"
"Nope.."
"Kay, see you later."
This is what occurred between my mother and me the night after my high school graduation. I want to be clear that I was grounded for a week for staying at my brothers apartment once. I was the most sheltered of the sheltered, a 12:00 curfew up until my last day of my senior year. Its been a very surreal week- having only been home twice with a few ambiguous texts sent back and forth. The funny part is that my parents probably trust me just as much as they did before i graduated (which wasn't very much) but once that diploma was handed to me, the ivory tower my parents had me holed up in was demolished. The only downside is that I've been totally neglecting my blog and the style pictures i've taken have been just sitting in my camera for the past few days. My time has been mostly spent with my brother and the Ryan kids. Matt left yesterday for a two month trip to europe and yes, I cried like a baby when he left. As for the Ryan kids, I've been friends with the younger sister Colleen since birth practically. I can't even put into words how much fun she is.....she's my sassier, bolder half. The thing is, we went to middle school together but when we got into high school, she went to public school while I was shipped to an all girl catholic high school. Summertime is when we make up for lost time. I remember the summer before my sophomore year, she literally lived at my house with high-jinx all around. That's about it for this pointless little life update/trip down memory lane. I should be poppin' out some posts here and there but this summer looks to me like one i'll never forget so I wouldn't count on me sitting down at my mac too often.

working out..is ..fun?
You know me, all about pumping some iron. Except I hate working out...90% of the time. My ideal work out is probably a 20 min run on the treadmill every three weeks or doing some laps in the pool after soaking up some sun. I want to take some yoga classes, but its taking me some time to find a place thats nearby and relatively inexpensive. I was reading InStyle the other day and it mentioned hula hooping as a new method of slimming down! I don't know about you, but that sounds like straight up fun to me. They have oodles of options online for weighted hula hoops, but I know a little trick.
Ghetto Weighted Hula Hoop
1 serrated knife
1 cheepie hula hoop from wal-mart or someplace like toys-r-us
1 bag of pennies...like 2 lbs worth
1 roll of duct tape
Cut the hula hoop open with the serrated knife, making sure to avoid any appendages (I almost drew back a nub). Hopefully your hula hoop's pipe is large enough for pennies...unlike my first hoop. So, fill your hoop with pennies to your desired weight. I would suggest 1-3 lbs, over three can really be too much for your first few times and you can always increase its weight. Tape the hoop back together and voila! Weighted hula hoop...albeit a loud one.

Trichomania!
I promise this isnt just a lump on your screen. It's a lump of heaven. It's solid shampoo by LUSH in Trichomania! LUSH is a uk brand specializing in natural products free of preservatives and scary chemicals. This is my first time ever seeing/using a shampoo bar but I really loved it. On top of it being just plain useful (no awkward bulky bottles, just one quick swipe ) its coconut which means super moisturizing and perfect for my dry, fluffy hair. My friend Colleen dragged me into LUSH a little earlier today and enlightened me to their world of earth-friendly, good-smelling, useful products. Bath fizzies are my new motivation for finding a job this summer.

Wash that man right outta your hair!
Not a fan of leftover hairspray after an event? Product can build up in your hair over time...everything from mousse to de-tangler. To get a fresh start and get all that gunk out of your junk, a clarifying shampoo is just what you need. I don't like straying from my usual coconut shampoo so I found an at-home remedy, no replacement shampoo necessary. Simply add two teaspoons of baking soda to shampoo until it becomes liquified (I usually mix it into one of those little cardboard rinsing cups). Wet your hair in the shower then apply the mixture to the roots- making sure to get a good scrub before you rinse. Follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner. Do this about once every few weeks and your hair will be in tip top shape! Instructions found here.
